About half my furniture pieces are commissions and half are ideas I've felt compelled to see manifested.
I communicate with clients using sketches of ideas sent by e-mail and I'm very diligent about photographing each step of the fabrication process to keep them informed of progress.
This piece is a collaboration with my friend Arthur who has designed and built a machine to cut large slabs of stone. He cut and polished this stone top and I built the simple steel painted base. The slab is 46.5" at it's widest and 25" at it narrowest dimension. It is 2" thick. The base is an 8" square column and the overall height is 32".The stone weighs approximately 200lbs and I would guess the steel base is about 75lbs. This piece is currently for sale for $450 (plus shipping)
